One of the things that really annoys me about #Ubuntu are tabs on the Files app. The colours are back to front. If you look at the image attached, "Home" is the active tab here, not "GitHub".

It should be inverted; the inactive tab should be grey and the active tab should be white.

Lucky for us we have a way of cooling down at home. πŸ™ƒ

Bots Are Eating My Blog for Lunch

Peter digs into why his server was suddenly overloaded and finds a swarm of bots chewing through his blog.

Always reassuring when you're sat on the toilet in work and you hear the iOS camera sound coming from another cubicle. 🫣

One of the things that's been frustrating me about #MicroBlog is that it only ever replies to a single person. If I want to reply to multiple, I have to remember their handle.

...and then I discovered the little @ symbol in the toolbar that lets me reply any/all in the thread. Idiot! πŸ˜‚

I watched a bit of the #Apple event, but lost interest after 40 mins. So this "groundbreaking re-design" is (drum-roll please πŸ₯πŸ₯)...

Translucent backgrounds. πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

🀣🀣 Oh Apple...

Is there anything more frustrating than updating the maps on a Sat Nav? Why have Sat Nav manufacturers not figured this out yet? It's been long enough...

Really enjoying Lillihub from @heyloura. It has some nice touches that the default #MicroBlog timeline doesn't have, like the ability to reply to multiple people in a thread.

Clutch has gone on my wife's car. Bloody brilliant.

I asked her if it's felt different recently and her response was "yeah, it's felt like it wasn't going into gear properly for a while now, and there's a light on the dash."

You didn't think to fucking tell me??? 😑

Woohoo! Completely problem free and only a minute or so of downtime. Good job, #Ubuntu! πŸŽ‰

I just SSH'd into my web server and was reminded that I'm still on Ubuntu 22.04 and 24.04 is there waiting for me. Is today a good day to do an OS version upgrade in prod? I think so!

I just read this post by Jason Velazquez and now I really want a moka pot. β˜•οΈ

Since #MicroBlog doesn't support hashtags, I decided to roll my own. If all went well, the hashtags in this post should link back to my site. #Kirby really is great!

No idea if it worked on #Mastodon, or if they overwrite the links. Can someone confirm please?

I've decided to cancel my #Kagi subscription. It's a good service, but I think $10/month is a little steep for search, especially when DuckDuckGo is free, privacy respecting, and 95% as good in my testing.

I also cancelled my YT Premium subscription because that shits like crack.

This new Micro.blog feature is such a great idea. Goodness knows I've wanted to turn down the noise many times. I like how thoughtful @manton is with this stuff. It's refreshing.

I know I'm biased, but goddam he's handsome. πŸ“·

It's a beautiful morning in north Wales, so instead of taking the dogs on their usual lead walk, we're up in the fields.

I think this also qualifies for day two: curve

Does an Apple Music client exist for Ubuntu?

What We Lost with PHP and jQuery

A look back at the simpler days of PHP and jQuery, when building websites was fast and easy. Now, modern tools often add more hassle than helpβ€”sometimes less really is more.
