Work to Live, Don’t Live to Work
I've always been a firm believer in this saying, and I've always tried to stick to it. But recently, things have flipped and it's killing me.
Proudly ruining the web since 2013.
I've always been a firm believer in this saying, and I've always tried to stick to it. But recently, things have flipped and it's killing me.
Walking the dogs with the youngest...
Him: Daaaaaad, I've been reading a book in school about how babies are born.
Me (inner monologue): Shit shit shit shit shit shit.
Him: Did you know that a baby comes out of a ladies private parts and the hole is this big (holds fingers up in a very small circle). But a baby is this big (holds hands up about 2 feet apart).
Me: Yep. That's pretty much it, mate.
Him: .........................................I'm glad I'm not a girl.
Me: 😂😂😂😂😂
Shouting from the other end of the house:
Me: [youngest kid's name], GUESS WHAT???
Him: WHAT?
Me: YOU SMELL! 😂😂
Him (very calmly): You're boring...
And so the student becomes the master. You win this round, young'n.
Fantastic post by Manu on what identity is and that we can't be identified in broad strokes.
For some reason, I find this site hilarious (probably needs to be done on desktop).
Do people find “month in review” posts interesting? I’ve thought about doing them myself, but very rarely read them so haven’t bothered.
Although when I do read them, they’re usually quite interesting…
Last Friday I posted about taking a break from Mastodon and since then I've checked Masto maybe 3 time and only really looked at my notifications.
It's actually been very pleasant. No politics, no moaning, no negativity, and no drama. I checked the timeline just now and all 4 of those things came flooding in.
Think I'm going to continue just checking my notifications. It's nice.
Right then, off to the garage...

Today has just been the worst day ever and I’m ready for it to fuck right off.
A lovely book to read with the kids, or alone. It's a great story, but there are some slightly darker parts.
Today it's monster trucks.

Just sitting down with the kids to watch The NeverEnding Story and this happened...
Me: this was released the year I was born, so it's the same age as me, boys.
Oldest: So it's old fashioned?
Me: Yep
Oldest: So why is there colour then?
😂😂😂 why do kids troll us so much??
One of my favourite #Kirby plugins seems to be abandoned. The default Kirby textarea editor is fine, but this adds some nice quality of life things that I really enjoy.
I wish I had the skills to maintain something like this. I'd love to help. 😞
I've been thinking about getting an activity tracker to, you know, track my activities. But I don't want to wear that, plus a watch. Then I remembered I have an old Garmin (from 2017) in the drawer. Still working great, so I'll use that instead. 🙃

You've probably seen a load of unread RSS items from my feed, sorry about that. Here's why...
This post is fantastic. Thanks, Manu.

Whenever I've checked Mastodon recently, all I've been seeing are angry posts about Trump, Elon, and now the whole Manton/Vincent vs Adam drama.
For the record, I'm not saying any of it is wrong. I'm just saying I'm sick of reading about how shit the world is. I need a break from it.
I write most post from the notes section of my blog and they're automatically syndicated to Masto. So you'll probably still see posts, but I doubt I'll be active in the replies for a little while.
✌🏻
I've heard a lot of people comment on how good iA Writer is, but it's £50!
Is it really that good?
I heard a great saying recently that I'm 100% going to steal.
"Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone has one."
Security questions like 'what is your mother's maiden name?' are so fucking bad. Here's what I do to make them slightly more secure.
